We were able to see three caves even in our full gear. The park service loans flashlights and it is a do-it-yourself tour. There are some really challenging caves but we weren’t dressed properly for those.

Klamath, OR to Chester, CA: Lava Beds National Monument
We headed out today towards California, wanting to see both Lava Beds National Monument and Lassen Volcanic National Park. The weather was great all day, sunny and 60-70’s except on top of the summit of Lassen Peak where it was in the 50’s.
We were able to see three caves even in our full gear. The park service loans flashlights and it is a do-it-yourself tour. There are some really challenging caves but we weren’t dressed properly for those.
