Eastward bound!

Sine my last post, we have continued to travel east. After the beautiful views in Rocky Mountain NP, and staying in Kremmling for the second time, we continued towards Kansas, ending up in the town of Colby, Kansas. From there, we continued east mostly by interstate 70 into Missouri an spent the night in Columbia, Missouri. Today, trying to beat the heat, we were on the road by 6:45. In St. Louis we picked up I 64, and continued through Illinois and Indiana and into Kentucky. Tonight, we are in Winchester, Kentucky and hopefully will be home tomorrow.

I caught sight of a beautiful rainbow but not in the usual arch, just in the clouds.
Here is the arch in St. Louis

Last picture of the arch using my newly mastered technique of flipping the phone (as in a selfie) and taking a backward shot

Rocky Mountain National Park

Leaving Kremmling this morning was a chilly 54 degrees. As we neared and then entered the park it dropped to 50 degrees.....brrrrr! This park has awesome views and lots of trails (that we didn't hike). We drove through it heading east, stopped at the Alpine visitor center- a great visitor center with great views from indoors and outside, local crafts and food. From there we headed out of the mountains down onto the plains of eastern Colorado and Kansas. We're staying in Colby, KS tonight. The plains, as expected were flat, dry and hot.

Kremling, Colorado

Hot, hot hot! We put on our LD Comfort attire and hit the road. We went through Park City, Utah and on to Dinosaur National Monument near the Colorado border. No time to hike or tour but a great spot to return to another time. Along the way as we neared Steamboat Springs we dodged a few storms and had a very close encounter with a deer who shot across the road in front of us! We're staying in Kremmling where stayed several years ago on the 4th of July.
