Northern Cascades National Park

I won't lie- yesterday's trip was very, very long. We left Hungry Horse a little after 7:00 a.m. and arrived in Glacier, Washington around 8:00 p.m. There was also the change to Pacific time, so all in all a 14 hour day. It was clear and sunny all day, temperatures ranging from a low of 55 to a high of 93 hot degrees. As we neared the Cascades there was a road closure on route 20 with no detour options. The first attempt to get around it took us to a steep road, just graded with fine crush gravel and wetted down for dust control. After a number of choice words from the driver, we turned around, me walking back down while Cleveland drove it. I even had to backtrack back uphill to help push the bike up so he could release the kickstand- all in full gear! Whew- we lost a couple of hours getting around the closure. As we got closer to the Cascades temperatures dropped a lot. We were actually cold as we rolled into Glacier, Washington.

Here are some views along the way.
