Olympic peninsula- national forest, hike to Mt. Walker

What a great fun filled day. We left Seattle early and took the ferry over to Olympic peninsula. Once in the national forest, we headed to the trailhead for Mt. Walker. It was 2 miles to the north summit and another 1/2 mile to the south summit. Sounds easy right..except it was very, very steep. It gained 2000 feet in elevation with a 20 % grade- after 2 weeks of mostly sitting on the motorcycle it was work getting to the top.

The view was awesome- you can see Mt. Baker through the haze from the north summit and from the south you can see Mt. Rainier and the Seattle skyline. Going back down, John and Angela took the trail back while Cleve and I took the 4 mile road back. It was longer but less steep. We almost finished when here they came in the car to get us!
