Ferry to Nova Scotia and on to Rogersville, New Brunswick

As I thought, there was no signal on board the ferry, so I will get you caught up with our ferry ride and then trip to the next town.

Yesterday, we left the friendly province of Newfoundland. We survived our long ferry ride- we boarded at 4:30 pm, took off at 6:30 pm, and arrived in N. Sydney, Nova Scotia at 9:30 am. We spent the night in not so comfy chairs (for sleeping) because the cost of a berth was very expensive. It was a huge ship, like being on a cruise complete with a bar and live entertainment, movies, snack bar...etc. it was a beautiful boat.

We were unloaded and on our way to new Brunswick by 10:00. Today was strictly a riding day- 300 miles to cover. It was the warmest day we had so far. We shed layers as the temperature rose to 86- we haven't seen that since we left Virginia on June 17! Our destination was a small motel in Rogersville, Chez Freda. It is a motel and restaurant. no trouble finding it on the main street of the small town. We had one of the best dinners that we've had throughout the trip, cooked by Francis. She can cook!!

Check out a few more ferry photos as well as some of our digs for the night.

Saying goodbye to the warm and friendly ladies at the Atlantica Restaurant/Motel- Wanda, Brittany and Brittany's mom picking through. We also met and chatted with Wanda's mom and dad and a couple that lives down the street- everyone knows everyone in these small coastal communities!

Check out the ferry as it was coming into the port- it needed to be unloaded and cleaned before we would be boarding.
Views of the coast of Newfoundland as we were pulling out on the ferry- gorgeous! The fog made it even more interesting to see.

As I said, we were on the boat from 4:30 pm when we boarded until 9:30 am the following day (this morning) when we got off. It was rough sleeping, but no worse than some of those high school band trips where we slept on buses! The one to Disney being the most memorable for uncomfortable sleeping. But, we survived and made it to our destination, Rogersville, New Brunswick.

Chez Freda- great restaurant and nice motel rooms
Cleve showing the way to our room!
Cleveland sweet talking the cook- Francis. She can really cook!

Music in the town center in Rogersville- a very french town. Even the songs, although familiar tunes, were  mostly in french.
I made a friend, Marguarette Vischy, while listening to the music. She is a retired teacher, so it was fun to hear her school stories, listen to how she is spending retirement, and she translated the songs for us!!

Tomorrow we will be headed to the Gaspe pennisula- we hear there are great sights to see. More then, if we have internet services.
