Yesterday, was very much a traveling day- we spent 8 or more hours on the road, covering 400 miles of beautiful coastlines along the Gaspe Penninsula. Weather was great so it was a long but comfortable day. We entered Quebec and were quickly in another world- French!! Even folks at the Information Centers could not speak English- signs and stores names all in French-help!! We are on our own.

Today- continuing around the Gaspe Penninsula, we left our cute room by the water and headed toward our next destination:Trois- Pistoles also in Quebec. The coastline was gorgeous, houses very quaint, and lots of lighthouses. Most of the time was spent looking at the water on our right and the mountains on our left- how perfect is that!

View from hillside above the motel- owner, Eric, drove up. He is also fixing breakfast for us in the morning. He's a really friendly fellow from Newfoundland |
Other people from Quebec have not been as friendly as those from Newfoundland. In fact, a young cashier at a grocery store told Cleve he should try to speak french!! At another store, Cleve said "thanks" in Spanish, so she assumed that is what he spoke and was taking to him in Spanish- she was confused about why he did not understand her!! I sometimes step in to help, because I know a few of the basic words in french, but it is fun to watch him give it a try!!
Tomorrow, it's on to Quebec City- we're practicing our french tonight before we go! Wish us luck.
