Bandon, OR to Florence, Or

Today's trip was a short one, up the 101 North. We stopped to see the Umpqua Lighthouse and then on to Florence. The notable geography here are the dunes- lots of them. People are four-wheeling and dune-buggying all over them!! It is very scenic through here, but cool and windy, and occasionally foggy which is unpredictable. We passed Winchester Bay which houses the highest dunes in the nation. It was hard to get a good look at them from the road, however.

Florence, OR is a very quaint town with shops, pubs and restaurants. It is a harbor town where we were able to walk around and see the boats. It is the most scenic and busy town we've seen in a while. We had dinner at the Bridgewater Restaurant and Zebra Bar. Then on to the Beachcomber for a beer. Deschutes makes a great porter!! Jaeger bombs are good too!

You can see the dunes in the distance- they're huge!

This is the Umpqua Light house, still an active lighthouse under the Coast guard there.
