Moab, Utah: Canyonland Np and Dead Horse SP

What a great day! We toured and hiked both Canyonlands NP and Dead Horse SP. The views were amazing where  the Colorado and Green rivers have worn away the canyon walls. Canyonland was a comfortable 85 degrees while Dead Horse was in the 90"s. And of course...when dropping back into Moab we hit 99 degrees- but, it is a dry heat!!

Below are pictures of Canyonlands NP

 Right on the edge!

Can you believe how close to the edge he gets!

Dead Horse is next- the story goes that the cowboys used to heard wild horses onto this point where they had no where to go (but down). Once, they left them there, fenced in with no water. The horses all died from thirst with the Colorado river 2000 feet below in the canyon.

Look at the Colorado River snaking it's way through this canyon.

We have learned that many movies have been made here (Thelma and Louise drove off of one of these bluffs) but more recently the new Lone Ranger and the new one with Will Smith in it was filmed around the Moab area.
