Missoula, MT to Glendive, MT

After the extreme heat the past two days, we decided to get an early start and to take I-90 to Billings, and then I-94 through the rest of Montana. While it was a bit of a longer route, it was much cooler only reaching the mid 80's. Also, we have not been to N. Dakota and have seen S. Dakota and its' attractions. The only problem we had was early this morning while riding in mid 40's- we were freezing! We found an unexpected National Monument- Pompeys Pillar just NE of Billings. It is a naturally carved sandstone structure that Clark discovered on his return trip. His signature is still cared into the stone!

Hoofing it to the top of the rock

Views of the Yellowstone River were frequent

We didn't take this road!
