Day #2 in Santa Fe, NM and Madrid, NM

Today we headed to Madrid where the movie Wild Hogs was filmed. It starred John Travolta and a couple of friends who took off in a motorcycle ride as a kind of mid-life crisis. Along the way they encountered a group of 1% bikers and the fun begins. This town, Madrid, NM was where some of it was filmed. It is a quirky town with old timer hippies mingling with tourists in cafe's and shops along a narrow strip of road. It is full of art galleries with mostly locally made wares- very cool stuff. Long ago it was a busy mining town.

This is where we had a great cup of coffee and slice of quiche.

This is Maggie's dinner where part of Wild Hogs was filmed.

You literally walk through a make shift mine shaft to get to other parts of the restaurant.

We got a book from this shop- no prices on them just whatever donation you want to give! What a great idea!
We need a sign like this for our babies at home.

After spending the morning there, we headed back to Santa Fe. We walked the streets and checked our a few places missed yesterday. Santa Fe is a great destination location!!
Sculptures are everywhere- this one is lamenting the loss of buffalo (slaughtered by white men) and so his way of life-
Beautiful buildings and architecture-
This was a fun salesmen - he was drumming up business for a jewelry shop-
Galleries on every block- look at this beautiful bear. His eyes were captivating!

Even on building tops there are sculptures-
This fountain has the Spanish Conquistadors up top and various native animals down below-
