Weatherford, OK to Amarillo, TX

We are now in Amarillo, Texas after a short ride from Weatherford, OK. Since we are tourists, we are staying at the Big Texan Motel. Next door is a steakhouse that offers a free 72 oz. steak if you can eat it in an hour! It also has a brewery so we are all set for the night!

Because we arrived before check-in time, we took a drive to Palo Dura Canyon State Park, Texas's Grand Canyo. It was interesting, but once you've seen the real Grand Canyon, nothing is quite as spectacular!! It was over 90 at that point so we decided not to hike although trails were all over. We opted for the driving tour. Lots of campers coming in to campout and we later learned that tonight there will be fireworks that can be seen fom the park.

Back at the hotel we took a swim in the pool shaped like the state of Texas- it was a bit cloudy so we didn't risk going under and took long showers afterwards.

We had dinner at the Big Texan Steak Ranch- great meal, big portions.
