Salt Lake City, UT- Day # 2

We hopped on the tour bus this morning at 9:15 and checked out the sights around the city. We spent much more time off the bus walking than on, but it helped get us to some of the tour sights that were further away.

Our first stop is Temple Square, 35 acres of historic buildings, gardens, sculptures, fountains and waterways.

Also in Temple Square, Assembly Hall.
Tourist are not allowed to enter the Temple.

A sample of manicured gardens and sculptures.

Do we look like tourists??
Next, to the Utah State Capitol Buidling.

View of insife the Capitol-
Temple from another view with the fountain that goes off periodically.
This was taken from the bus near the Natural History Museum and Red Butte Gardens. This is just a glimpse of the Wasatch Mountains.
We hopped off the bus at Trolley Square and had lunch at Whole Foods- yum, yum!
While waiting for the bus, Cleve leaned up against a tree for a back scratch- check out the thorns he rubbed on! Have you ever seen a tree with huge thorns on it??
We headed back to Temple Square to the Joseph Smith Memorial buidlding where a piano player was playing- it sounded wonderful in this huge room, that used to be a hotel lobby. Up on the 10th floor there are look-out windows on both ends with great views.

We stopped here earlier today and went to the Family Heritage Center where staff help you get started in creating your family tree or just look up and ancester- we learned that there is a center right in our own town of Culpeper where we can continue our search.
